Types Of Toys by Jim Brown

Toys are not just what one buys at a store. Toys are anything a child uses to play with. Probably the best toy of all is what a child can do with their mind. A child's mind is an amazing thing. It can turn a card board box into almost anything. It can use a bottle of paint and some paper to create a work of art. Without our children's minds, there would be no use for physical toys.

Have you ever watched your child playing? They do the most wonderful and amazing things. All a child need is a few toys or even some pots and pans and they are good to go. One watching a child might see them turn a pot into a hat or a drum or use an old phone and talk to whoever they are thinking of. A child does not always need the most expensive toy one can find. All one needs to do is to get a box. This opens up a world of opportunities to a child. A box is not just a box; it is a house, a boat, a car, a plane, and so many other things. Isn't it funny that children are sometimes more interested in the box and not the toy that came in the box.

Then there are the toys you do buy. A child's mind is what brings them to life. A child with her baby doll imitates her parents and takes care of it. A child with his cars knows to make the engine sounds and drive it around. Children sometimes even develop imaginary friends from the depths of their minds. A child's mind has not been penetrated by the rules of the world yet. It is free to turn anything into a toy. A child can look around almost any place and choose to turn anything into something to play with. A plastic bottle can become a rocket or when something is placed in it, a bottle is suddenly a musical instrument.

Do not underestimate the power of a child's imagination. It is the most exquisite tool a child can have. Without it, there would be no use for toys of any kind. A child's mind is always growing and learning new things, seeing what adventure they can go on next. Help a child to use their mind and the child will never lack for things to play with.
