Website Links Change Internet Navigation Rules by Dave Millington

One of the best things website owners can do for their visitors in to provide website links to other pages on their site. As the names implies the links are a clickable image or text that zips the visitor to another site or another page on the same site. In the initial days of the internet this was done by typing in the address of the page the user wanted to visit into the browser. Since that time, website links have provided a quicker, easier solution to internet navigation.

Website links are imbedded into the website's code, whether it is written in hypertext machine language (HTML), Flash, java or any of the other languages used for writing internet web code. The embedded code is usually something like A HREF "website address" followed by the words such as Click Here, which shows up as a link on the web page. For images, simply specifying a direct URL into the code of the image, sends a visitor off to the new site or page by a simple click of the mouse.

Webmasters can also use this embedded code to the tell the computer to open that page in a new browser window or to close the current one and replace it with the new one. The use of website links has greatly enhanced the web experience for experienced and new web surfers everywhere.

Advertisers In Love With Website Links

One of the industries reaping the benefits of website links is advertising as they can imbed links into the graphics used on their pages to take a potential customer directly to a page on their site instead of making them search every page trying to find what they are looking for. For example, a picture of a cell phone can lead directly to a page offering cellular service or a picture of a CD can lead to a music page.

The different methods used by website links for navigation can, however by bothersome to some users. A link can be written that automatically send the visitor to a site simply by passing their mouse over a certain section of the site. This can annoyingly send a person to a site they may not have wanted to visit.

Overall, the use of website links have made the internet simpler for everyone to use and easy to learn. Graphical interface reduces the need for typing in address to which the visitor wants to go, eliminating the possibility of mistyping the name and address.
