How To Collect Celebrity Art
by Victor Epand
There is a great deal of art in the world for anyone to try to collect. Art is what we use to decorate our homes, making the place feel more comfortable by displaying things that we connect with, find an attraction to, or simply find beautiful. One of the most popular forms of art, though, is the type that represents things that we are interested in. This is why some people decorate areas of their homes with art like movie posters, posters of sports stars, or photography which speaks to them. Anything that makes the collector happy is something worth collection.
If the collector wants to increase the value of their collection along with impressing any of their guests, however, they will want to look for pieces of celebrity art which has been autographed. These pieces are much more rare than the normal photographs and posters an they can make the piece be worth much more money than without. This can be an impressive fact alone to anyone who likes to own pieces that are worth a bit of money. It is also impressive, however, because it means that the celebrity took the time to autograph the piece. They touched the piece and now it is something which is displayed in the collector's home. It brings a sense of connection between the celebrity and the collector.
There are a number of different ways that one could go about trying to collect all of these pieces of autographed art. One could look online to find different collectors who are willing to sell some of their pieces for whatever reason. Different websites will help collectors get in touch with one another to talk about the different pieces of celebrity art which they own and to help each other find pieces that they may be looking for. Sometimes a trade can be negotiated among these collectors.
Auction based websites are another popular way to find rare pieces of celebrity art. Often, people have their collections and are willing to part with a few pieces, sometimes to get another piece they might be after. Therefore, they are willing to sell some of their pieces to get the money for the better piece. The piece they might be selling though could be something popular which people could want. Therefore, by putting it on an auction website, they can set the piece loose among a number of people who are interested in it. This could earn them a great deal of money, but also give you the opportunity to get the piece you are after.
Additionally, a collector could send an item to a celebrity, hoping that they will autograph and return it. This could be anything from a photo of the celebrity to a magazine cover which they might have graced, or even a poster of a movie they once starred in. Any of these items could turn into a great display piece of autographed art. One shouldn't send anything too valuable, however, in case the piece gets lost in the mail. This can be a great way, however, to turn a normal picture of a celebrity or a copy of a magazine into an exciting collector's piece!

Art is culture, culture is art. From downtown to uptown there are endless stories that fit into are format. Everything from downtown LA Graffiti artist, to celebrity New York art openings, to the up coming video director that 'Definitely likes to ROCK HARD'. Today there are younger and trendier interests in the art world. This show will be in an "Entertainment Tonight" format, quick cuts full of hip information. People are unaware that the multi-billion dollar business of art is full of trend setters, icons, celebrities that collect, and Rock Stars that have openings all over the world; ex: Marilyn Manson.
There is no other program like this- thirty minute weekly magazine show, Art Talk. When I realized I would love to see a television show in this format with this information, I knew there must be thousands of others that do as well. Mainstream America is just not exposed to the all the elements of the art world; what probably pops in most minds is the perception of old rich people holding up bid sticks at auctions. This is just not true.
